FRANKFORT, N.Y. – Tyler Rosati ran for three touchdowns Friday night and helped the Frankfort-Schuyler Maroon Knights defeat Onondaga’s Tigers 28-6, ending the season for Section III’s 2018 Class D champions in this year’s quarterfinals.

Rosati ran for 173 yards on 28 carries and scored on short runs in the first, third and fourth quarters. Andrew Spina broke a 6-6 tie with his two-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter.

The Maroon Knights (6-2), seeded fourth after tie-breaking procedures sorted out a four-way tie for first place in Class D, took the ball to start the second half and ran a seven-minute drive that ended with a one-yard run by Rosati.

Frankfort-Schuyler got the ball back when David Cooley recovered an Onondaga fumble and ran eight more minutes off the clock before Rosati scored on four-yard run with seven minutes left in the game.

Rosati ran for 158 yards and four touchdowns when the Maroon Knights beat the Tigers (3-5) 39-12 at Lt. Ferraro Memorial Field in the second week of the regular season.

Quarterback Jeff DeSarro completed six of 12 passes for 108 yards and ran for 112 yards on 14 carries for Frankfort-Schuyler.

The Maroon Knights took a 6-0 lead on Rosati’s first touchdown in the first quarter and Onondaga tied the game with a long touchdown pass.

The Maroon Knights will meet the winner of Saturday’s game between Dolgeville and Sandy Creek at a neutral site in next weekend’s semifinals.
