FRANKFORT, N.Y. – Playing at home at Lt. Ferraro Memorial Field Thursday after a pair of upsets set up a 12-vs.-13 quarterfinal in Section III’s Class C playoffs, the Frankfort-Schuyler Maroon Knights extended their postseason run with a 2-1 win over Thousand Islands’ Vikings.

The teams went scoreless into the second half then scored all of their goals in one 10-minute flurry. Hailey Traut broke the 0-0 tie with a goal assisted by Cassidy Maneen for the Maroon Knights (8-8-1) and Brooke Lawson put the hosts up 2-0 a short time later with a goal on a rebound of a shot initially taken by Traut.

Shannon Corbett scored the Thousand Islands goal 53 seconds after play restarted. Sarah Corbett assisted.

Mia Amendolare made five saves for Frankfort-Schuyler which has won three of its last four matches after losing four in a row and has allowed four goals during that stretch.

Delaney Wiley had 13 saves for Thousand Islands (8-8-1).

Both teams won on the road in the first round of postseason play Tuesday. Frankfort-Schuyler, seeded 12th, beat No. 5 Cooperstown, a team it had twice lost to, in a penalty kick shootout in the afternoon and learned it would play at home later in the evening when No. 13 Thousand Islands beat No. 4 Onondaga 6-1.

The Maroon Knights get Waterville, the No. 1 seed, in Wednesday’s semifinals. Waterville remains undefeated after beating Immaculate Heart of Watertown 3-1 Thursday.
