SCOTIA, N.Y. – Abby Johnson scored the first two goals and the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville defense earned another shutout Wednesday in the Wolves’ 6-0 Western Athletic Conference win over the Lions from Mekeel Christian Academy.

Goalie Ashlee Shelmandine made three saves in the third consecutive shutout and seventh of the season for Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville (11-2-2, 8-1-1 WAC).

Alexis Mumford matched Johnson with two goals and her first put the visiting Wolves up 3-0 at halftime. Madisyn Schell and Michaela Wilson added goals in the second half along with Mumford’s second.

Mikayla Mitchell made 15 saves for Mekeel Christian Academy.

The Wolves finish the regular season Friday with a match at Northville where the Falcons are 9-1-0 within the Western Athletic Conference. Each team has been beaten only by Schoharie in league play this season. Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville is ranked sixth and Northville 14th this week in the New York State Sportswriters Association’s Class D poll.
