All Whitesboro High School senior forward Tommy Morreale needed was 23 points to reach 1,000 for his career.

All he did was double that – scoring a school-record 47 points and leading Whitesboro's state-ranked Warriors to a 90-84 victory over Auburn in a nonleague boys basketball game Friday night.

Morreale, whose 47 points broke the school record of 46 set by current SUNY Polytechnic Institute star Josh Gregory two years ago against Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, scorred 17 of Whitesboro's 27 points in the two four-minute overtimes.

Whitesboro's Collin McAndrew's 3-pointer with about three seconds remaining - his only points of the night - sent the game into overtime. Morreale, who was 15 for 18 from the free throw line, then made 10 of 11 foul shots in the two OTs.

Morreale also raised his career total to 1,024 points. T.J. Borza holds the school record with 1,043 points.

Avery Cook scored 22 points and Zach Britt added 14 for state-ranked No. 17 Whitesboro (10-2), whose Warriors had won nine in a row before Tuesday night's 77-73 Tri Valley League loss at Rome Free Academy.
