PERU, N.Y. – Sophomore Jacob Null returned to Dolgeville a champion after winning the 160-pound title Saturday at the two-day Peru Invitational.

The Blue Devils placed fifth among 24 teams representing 18 schools from New York and Vermont. Gouverneur took the team title with Peru second followed by Shenendehowa, Saranac and Dolgeville.

The undefeated Null, a finalist at 138 pounds as an eighth-grader two years ago, entered this weekend’s tournament as a No. 1 seed and pinned his way into the finals where he defeated Peru’s Zach Sawyer to claim a championship.

Dolgeville had two other finalists. Junior Bradley Lamphere was the runner-up at 120 pounds, and freshman Dylan Randall finished second at 195. Ethan Randall was a semifinalist at 170 and finished fifth.
