LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. – The Little Falls Mounties closed within four points late in the fourth quarter Thursday but the Canastota Raiders held on for a 50-42 Center State Conference crossover victory.

A pair of free throws by Mason Trumbull narrowed the gap to 45-41 with 2 ½ minutes remaining in regulation. The Mounties’ defense forced a quick turnover but Little Falls (3-6) missed a three-point back on the offensive end and a basket by Nathan Wood extended the lead for Canastota (5-5).

Little Falls missed its first shot on a one-and-one at the foul line on its next possession and Edquen Brooks added a basket with an assist from Wood before the teams finished the game by trading foul shots.

Brooks finished with a game-high 25 points, one less than the career-high 26 scored in the Raiders’ previous game against Hamilton. Wood added nine points and Dylan VanValkenburg scored eight.

Teddy Schoff led Little Falls with 13 points while Kaden Calafrancesco added 11.

Both teams will play crossovers again Tuesday, Canastota at West Canada Valley, and Little Falls at home against Adirondack.
