DOLGEVILLE, N.Y. – The Herkimer Magicians opened league play in Division II of the Center State Conference Thursday with an 83-33 win in Dolgeville.

The Magicians (2-3, 1-0 CSC-II), who shared the league title with West Canada Valley last winter, jumped ahead by 17 points with a 24-point first quarter. The lead was 41-13 at halftime.

Jordyn Lanaux led Herkimer with a game-high 25 points and contributed six assists and six rebounds. James Aiello added 13 points and eight rebounds, Mardoni Laguerre had 10 and eight, and Noah Carpenter scored a career-high 10 points.

Freshman Greg Gonyea had 18 points to lead Dolgeville (2-2, 0-1 CSC-II).

Dolgeville travels to Little Falls Monday. Herkimer’s next game is Tuesday at home against West Canada Valley.

ORISKANY, N.Y. – The Oriskany Redskins took the lead in the second half Thursday and defeated Little Falls 57-43 in their Center State Conference Division II debut.

Trailing 25-19 at halftime on their home floor, the Redskins (1-1, 1-0 CSC-II) outscored their guests 23-6 to take the lead in the third quarter. John Longeretta hit three three-pointers and scored 11 of his 13 points during the third quarter.

Aaron Warcup led Oriskany with 24 points and six steals. Longeretta grabbed seven rebounds and had five assists, and Matt Enos had four steals.

Mason Trumbull scored 13 points to led the Mounties (2-2, 0-1 CSC-II) who shot 2-for-22 on three-pointers.

Little Falls plays at home for the first time this season Monday against Dolgeville.

CLINTON, N.Y. – The Central Valley Academy Thunder hit 13 three-point shots Thursday and defeated Clinton 87-56 for their second win this season against the Warriors.

Leading 16-11 after the first quarter, the Thunder (4-1) scored 28 points in the second quarter and 22 more in the third, outscoring the Warriors (1-4) 50-25 over that time.

Luke Tulloch had three threes and 15 of his game-high 22 points during the second quarter for Central Valley Academy, and Brennan Murray added 19 points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocked shots. Brennen Seymour chipped in with 10 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, Jacob Schoff scored 11 points, and Connor Trevor scored eight. Eight Central Valley Academy players had at least one three -pointer.

Tanner Deveans, who scored 31 points in the teams’ first meeting in Ilion, led Clinton with 18 points Thursday.

Next up for the Thunder is a trip to Utica Dec. 14 for a game at Notre Dame.

WINFIELD, N.Y. – The Mt. Markham Mustangs are off to a 3-0 start following Thursday’s 71-55 win over the Westmoreland Bulldogs in the Center State Conference Division III opener for both squads.

Eddie King led the Mustangs (3-0, 1-0 CSC-III) with 17 points and Connor Luke added 15.

Isaiah Peck scored 22 points to lead Westmoreland (1-3, 0-1 CSC-III).

Mt. Markham jumped ahead 26-9 in the first quarter and the game was even the rest of the way with the Mustangs outscoring the Bulldogs by one point in the third quarter.

The Mustangs were 63-54 winners against Clinton earlier in the week. King had 17 points in that game and Mt. Markham had four scorers in double figures. Tanner Deveans led Clinton with 18 points.

Mt. Markham next plays Monday at Sauquoit Valley.
