LaFARGEVILLE – Alex Gaylord scored 20 points for Adirondack Friday and the Wildcats pulled away in the second half to defeat Sandy Creek’s Comets 56-45 in the first round of tournament play at LaFargeville.

The Wildcats led 24-22 at halftime before scoring 23 points in the third quarter and extended the lead to 14 points.

Brandon Mooney scored 15 points, Landon Miller had 11, and they and Gaylord combined to hit six three-pointers.

Taylib Kimball and Logan Haynes each scored 10 points to lead Sandy Creek.

LaFargeville defeated Belleville-Henderson 74-45 in the nightcap and will be Adirondack’s opponent in Saturday’s championship game.

The Wildcats play at home Monday against the Little Falls Mounties who will be playing their first regular season game under Bryan Shepardson, their new varsity coach.
