REMSEN, N.Y. – The Hamilton Emerald Knights were 2-1 winners at Remsen Wednesday and earned a third shot at top-seeded Poland in Section III’s Class D quarterfinals.

The Emerald Knights (8-6-3) travel to Poland Friday to take on the unbeaten Tornadoes (16-0-0) who had a bye through the first round of the playoffs. Poland’s 16 wins include two shutouts against Hamilton earlier in the season.

Erik Geier scored both goals for Hamilton Wednesday with assists from Zach Bernard. Goalie Ben Coddington made five saves.

Griffin Murray scored for Remsen (8-7-2) with an assist from Hunter Jones. Ian Long made nine saves.

The teams had split two decisions during league play in Division IV of the Center State Conference and Hamilton had been beaten 2-0 on a previous trip to Remsen. The Emerald Knights were 5-0 winners in the rematch on their home field. Poland beat Hamilton 2-0 and 1-0.
