SAUQUOIT – A record-setting number of points were scored Saturday night at Sauquoit Valley High School, all of them by the Utica Yard Dogs.

The first-place Yard Dogs remained unbeaten in the Empire Football League (EFL) with a 102-0 victory over the Seaway Valley Venom. The Venom also were shut out by the Yard Dogs 87-0 on July 7.

Former Rome Free Academy quarterback Aaron Tennant was 4 for 5 passing for 137 yards and two touchdowns, while Thomas R. Proctor High School graduate J’von Evans rushed four times for 102 yards and a touchdown. Tennant also caught a touchdown pass.

Utica’s defense picked off eight passes and returned five of those interceptions for touchdowns.

The Yard Dogs hit the road next Saturday to face the Plattsburgh North Stars at Bailey Avenue Field.
