Sam Walther, a 2018 Hamilton College grad, signed a National Women's Hockey League contract with the Connecticut Whale on Tuesday.

Walther is the reigning NESCAC Player of the Year and two-time first team All-American goaltender. She set single season team records for goals-against average (1.08), save percentage (.960) and shutouts (10) in 2017-18. Walther is also Hamilton's career leader in those categories.

The Whale went 3-11-2 last season. Their home opener is Sunday, Oct. 7 at Terry Conners Rink in Stamford, Connecticut.
