FRANKFORT, N.Y. – Eliza Marusic hit a grand slam for Herkimer Friday, and the Magicians defeated the Frankfort-Schuyler Maroon Knights 10-4 for their first win of the season.
Marusic, who had doubled earlier in the game, gave Herkimer a 5-4 lead with her two-out, sixth-inning home run. The Magicians added five runs in the top of the seventh to secure coach Dan Stalteri’s 99th victory.
Nicole Gallagher, Karli Treen and Cassie Gilbert each had two hits for Herkimer, and Nicole Gallagher and Kurstin Gay scored two runs. The Magicians left the bases loaded in the second inning and also had three runners in the fourth before Savannah Stalteri singled and scored on a hit by Emily Jory in the fifth.
Leadoff hitter Taylor Christensen doubled three times and scored a run for Frankfort-Schuyler. Trinity Critelli crossed the plate twice, and Hannah Banas drove in two runs.

ONEIDA, N.Y. – Kyra Shlotzhauer and Brianna Laureti combined on a one-hit shutout for Oneida Friday and the Indians beat Central Valley Academy’s Thunder 16-0 in Tri-Valley League play.
Shlotzhauer struck out 10 batters in four innings and each pitcher walked one in the five-inning contest. Sianna Kenyon had the Thunder’s lone hit against Shlotzhauer.
Lauren Skibitski had two doubles and a single, and drove in four runs for Oneida. Shlotzhauer had two hits and three RBI, Kaylin Curro had four hits, and Reiley White had three hits and drove in two runs.

WINFIELD, N.Y. – Marley Inglis pitched a two-hitter Friday in the Sauquoit Valley Indians’ 4-1 win over the Mt. Markham Mustangs.
The Indians scored in the top of the first inning, and added one run in the third and two in the fourth. Meghan Peek scored twice for the Indians who had five hits.
Hannah Christian and Madison Clark had the hits for Mt. Markham.
