UTICA – After just missing the playoffs last season, the Utica Comets will this open the postseason by meeting the Toronto Marlies in the North Division semifinals.

The matchup was set when Utica claimed fourth place with a loss to Belleville on Saturday. The Marlies had the best regular-season mark in the American Hockey League.

The series is a best-of-five format. The schedule:

-- Saturday, April 21 -- at Toronto’s Ricoh Coliseum, 4 p.m.

-- Sunday, April 22 – at Toronto, 4 p.m.

-- Wednesday, April 25 – at Utica, 7 p.m.

-- Friday, April 27 (if necessary) – Utica, 7 p.m.

-- Sunday, April 29 (if necessary) – at Toronto, 4 p.m.

Single-game seats will go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the box office at the Adirondack Bank Center at Utica Memorial Auditorium, calling 315-790-9070 or logging on to empirestatetix.com. Ticket prices for first round series are: $20 (value), $22 (upper mezzanine), $24 (preferred), $26 (premier) and $30 (glass). That’s about a $2 increase for each level from the 2015-16 playoffs.

The winner of the series between the Comets and Marlies will meet the winner of a semifinal matchup between Syracuse and Rochester in the North Division finals.
