CANASTOTA — Brett Bala and Joe Perkins won Wednesday’s two contested singles matches and the Herkimer Magicians defeated Canastota 4-1 for their first victory of the season.

Bala beat Sam Cesario 7-5, 6-4, and Perkins was a 6-0, 6-0 winner against Ethan Debrucque. Canastota forfeited the third singles match to Nate Stapf, and also forfeited at second doubles.

Zach Blanchard and Adam Burbank had the only win for Canastota in the first doubles match.

CAMDEN — The Camden Blue Devils were 6-1 winners over Central Valley Academy Wednesday.

The Blue Devils won three of the four singles matches, and Central Valley Academy forfeited all three doubles matches.

Sohum Patel went three sets at third singles and had the lone win for Central Valley Academy’s Thunder. Patel beat David Congden 6-1, 5-7, 6-3.

SAUQUOIT — The Sauquoit Valley Indians scored a second 5-0 win against Herkimer at the start of the season.

Chris Mazza, Anthony Malysa and Evan Shaw won in singles play for the Indians. Mazza and Shaw took their matches in two sets, and Malysa went three with a tie-breaker to defeat Magician Joe Perkins 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-4.

In doubles play, Sauquoit Valley’s Luke Stayton and Daevon Stubbs beat Joey Carney and Nate Polus 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 in three sets, and Daron Snow and Bryan DeGeronimo won a tie-breaker to close out their match against Herkimer’s Kyle Bixler and Ben Flint.
