ILION, N.Y. – Central Valley Academy’s Thunder limited Sherburne-Earlville to 13 points before halftime Wednesday on the way to a 53-36 victory over the Marauders.

The Thunder led by 14 points at halftime on the way to a season-opening win at home. Savannah Sommer led the team with 14 points while Olivia Murray and Claire Schoff each scored 12,and Reilly Rich had 10 for Central Valley Academy.

Jaci Wright led Sherburne-Earlville with  eight points.

HERKIMER, N.Y. – The Herkimer Magicians outscored Westmoreland in all four quarters Wednesday and raced to a 59-30 win over the Bulldogs.

The Magicians led 28-16 at halftime behind 12 of Alana Ferri’s game-high 22 points. The margin doubled to 24 points at the end of the third quarter and reached 30 early in the fourth.

Ferri also had a team-high eight steals. Becky Judd chipped in with 11 points and four steals, Salena Reinhardt scored 10 points, and Ashley Cady scored eight. Ally Kirkpatrick and Eliza Marusic each grabbed seven rebounds.

Julia Muller led Westmoreland with 11 points.

The Magicians play at home again Monday against West Canada Valley.
