Lauren Cupp bested the Greater Utica City Amateur field again.
Cupp, a Rome County Club member, finished with a three-over par 76 on Friday to defend her title in the tournament’s 18-hole women’s Open division Friday at Valley View Golf Course in Utica.
Cupp, who was named the head golf coach at Hamilton College in July, also won the City Am’s inaugural women’s open division title last year. A total of 14 players competed in four divisions, up from six last year.
Cupp, a former New Hartford High School standout in multiple sports, also won the New York State Golf Association (NYSGA) Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship in July.
This year’s women’s event had been rained out twice since July, according to tournament director Hank Furgol. The men’s tournament was July 16.
Whitesboro native Diane Waldron (Cedar Lake Club) finished with a seven-over 80 to win the Seniors Division Friday. Emilie Welpe (Crestwood Golf Club) won the Super Seniors division with a 95 while Joan Kay (Crestwood) topped the Super Duper Seniors Division with an 86.
Other scores from the tournament were unavailable.
