HERKIMER, N.Y. – Mikayla Blumenstock had five goals before halftime Wednesday in the third-ranked Herkimer College Generals’ 8-1 win over SUNY-Adirondack.

Blumenstock, the freshman from Poland, recorded her second college hat trick at Wehrum Stadium and matched her goal-scoring total from the first three matches for the unbeaten Generals (4-0-0). She scored the first three goals Wednesday, then, after Grace Johnson scored, added two more for a 6-0 halftime lead.

Jenna Rogers added a goal and an assist for the Generals, Alyce Griffin scored a goal, and Danielle Charland, Alexys Bolton and Christine DiVirgilio each had an assist.

Jana Bickley scored for Adirondack.

Later Wednesday, the Herkimer men got a quick goal and defeated Adirondack 1-0 to complete a sweep for the school. The win paid Adirondack back for a rare Region III loss during the regular season last fall; Herkimer also beat Adirondack in last year’s regional tournament.

Dajhal Kelly scored for the Generals with an assist from Camilo Avendano in the second minute of play. The Generals put two shots off the frame during the second half. Sean Connolly made three saves in the team’s second shutout of the season.

The men play on the road for the first time Saturday at Fulton-Montgomery Community College. Both squads are home again next Wednesday for doubleheader against Tompkins Cortland Community College.
