MOHAWK, N.Y. – Forced to play catch-up on its home field, Central Valley Academy put up quite a fight against Utica’s Proctor Raiders Tuesday before taking a 2-1 defeat.

The Thunder allowed two Proctor goals in the first half of the first half and shut the Raiders out from there.

Tanner Cook put the Thunder (3-2-0) on the board with his seventh goal of the season and Central Valley Academy’s first against Proctor in three years of Tri-Valley League play. Cook lofted a long shot from in front of the home bench at the Tolpa Athletic Complex and stuck the ball in the far side of the net.

The Raiders had shut the Thunder out once last fall and twice in 2014.

Central Valley Academy threatened again during the back-and-forth second half and missed its best chance to tie the score in the 57th minute. Derek Streeter ripped a shot off the crossbar, and Salim Essadi chipped his rebound shot over the top.

Andre Boyko and Jorge Lozada scored for Proctor (3-2-0) with assists coming from Hussein Osman and Abdi Somow.

Haris Bakertarevic made eight saves for the Raiders while Jack Hall had 11 for the Thunder.
