EAST HERKIMER – The Little Falls Mounties kept constant pressure on their opponents’ defense Friday, scored two goals before halftime and two after, and defeated the Herkimer Magicians 4-0.
Nicole Failing had two goals and an assist for the Mounties (2-0-0, 2-0-0 CSC-II), including assisting on the first goal and scoring the second to give her team a 2-0 halftime lead. Kailee Jasewicz scored first, and Maria Morotti had the assist on the first Failing goal of the evening.
Failing scored again with an assist from Arielle Raux. Camber Barnett closed out the scoring with her first varsity goal; Kharla Gullis and Caira Miles assisted.
Kylie Miles was not called upon to make a save in the shutout for Little Falls.
Kurstin Gay recorded 28 saves for Herkimer (1-2-0, 0-1-0 CSC-II).
Little Falls meets Utica’s Notre Dame Jugglers Wednesday in the first round of Waterville’s Brothertown Optimist Tournament.
DOLGEVILLE – The Dolgeville Blue Devils took advantage of a large shot advantage Friday and started their season with a 4-1 win against Remsen.
The Blue Devils got two goals and an assist from Sarah George and outshot the visiting Rams 27-15. Lauren George and Alexis Smith also scored for Dolgeville, and Patricia Cool had an assist. Bobbie Lee Hall made eight saves.
Olivia Matt scored for Remsen, and Olivia Woolheater made 16 saves.
SHERBURNE, N.Y. – The Frankfort-Schuyler Maroon Knights scored all three of their goals in the second half Friday and defeated Morrisville-Eaton 3-2 in the first round of Sherburne-Earlville’s kickoff tournament.
The Maroon Knights, who trailed 1-0 at halftime, return to Sherburne Saturday to take on Unatego in the 8 p.m. title match. Unatego scored five times in the second half Friday and defeated the host school 6-2.
Rose Simmons had a goal and an assist for Frankfort-Schuyler in Friday’s victory, and Hailey Traut and Hanna Linscott each scored a goal. Frankie DeRollo and Courtney Madia each contributed an assist for the victors, and Charlotte Rodio was credited with 10 saves.
Mackensie Sternberg and Emily McCann scored for Morrisville-Eaton, and Mackenzie Hirsch made 12 saves.
MT. MARKHAM 1
COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. – Kate Trosset’s goal broke a second-half tie Friday and the Cooperstown Hawkeyes defeated the Mt. Markham Mustangs 2-1.
Cooperstown’s Grace LeCates and Mt. Markham’s Amber Bryce had traded goals in the first half and the teams remained tied at 1 into the middle of the second. Delaney Holohan was credited with an assist on the winner.
Sam Wehner made nine saves for the Hawkeyes (1-1-0) while Samantha Langren had 12 for the Mustangs (0-1-0). Cooperstown had an 18-4 edge in shots.
WEST CANADA VALLEY 3
WESTMORELAND, N.Y. – The West Canada Valley Indians trailed at halftime Friday but rallied past Westmoreland for a 3-2 victory over the Bulldogs.
Down 2-1 at the break, the Indians scored twice in the second half and won on the road. Bailey Martin had a goal and an assist for West Canada Valley, and Chloe Smith and Taylor Zaino each scored a goal.
Goalies Olivia Bolton and Bryann Brelinsky combined to make six saves for the Indians.
Gabe Miller scored one of the Westmoreland goals and assisted on the other which was scored by Grace DePietro. Julia DePietro made five saves.
