LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. - Six Mounties scored goals Wednesday and Little Falls opened the 2016 season with a 7-1 win over Cooperstown's Hawkeyes.

Maria Morotti scored two goals and her sister Geena had one with two assists. Cassie Tinkler chipped in with two more assists for the Mounties while Kailee Jasewicz, Kharla Gullis, Nicole Failing and Leah Shepardson each scored a goal, and Ariel Raux and Camber Barnett each contributed an assist to the team's offensive tally.

Kylie Miles had six saves for Little Falls and Sam Wehner countered with 15 for Cooperstown.

Kate Trosset scored for the Hawkeyes after Little Falls had taken a 4-0 lead in the first half.

Jasewicz, Gullis and each of the Morottis scored before halftime.

The Mounties play at Herkimer Friday.

SPRINGFIELD CENTER, N.Y. - Maddie Renshaw scored four goals for Herkimer Wednesday in the Magicians' 5-0 win over the Owen D. Young Wildcats.

The Magicians (1-1-0) led 3-0 at halftime and added two goals after the break. Becky Judd had a goal and an assist, and Alana Ferri had an asssist.

Kurstin Gay made five saves and recorded her first varsity victory and shutout in goal for the Magicians.

Kaitlyn Lewis made seven saves for Owen D. Young which was playing its first match of the season.

Herkimer is home Friday for a 5 p.m. match against Little Falls.
