Tenney propaganda simply destructive

Claudia Tenney’s recent DACA statement in the O-D was simply radical Right-wing propaganda.

She cited nothing to back-up her off-the-wall assertions that: 1) “DACA encourages an influx of hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrant minors;” 2) “DACA attracts children here without their parents;” 3) the “safety of our citizens depends on strong border control.” Apparently, she could not find any scientific inquiries, studies, analyses or substantiated proof that would confirm her assertions as true or real.

Therein lies the problem of what propaganda does to a democratic society, separating many from truth and reality. Propaganda paralyzes problem definition and the testing of viable alternatives, thus voiding the process of finding the best solutions for enhancing people’s lives.

Elected officials can become so attracted to imaginary issues, fake news and pure lies that government can no longer effectively function as the advocate for real people with real problems. The aim of authoritarians like Trump, Tenney and the radical Right is to deny facts, distort truth and develop automatons who follow-the-leader without a whimper of protest or flicker of doubt.

Beware Claudia Tenney’s devotion to Trump’s destructive propaganda, and her detachment from facts and her constituents. One-term Tenney is one too many!

Rep. Tenney seems to follows the leader

Rep.Claudia Tenney’s statement concerning her support of President Trump’s DACA decision must be called out.

Tenney built her rambling defense on the damaging falsehood (indeed, a lie) that, in her exact words, “DACA has encouraged the influx of hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrant minors who have illegally crossed our borders in the hopes of benefiting from [DACA].”

While campaigning, Tenney stressed her independence, assuring voters she was her own person and, when she felt it necessary, would not hesitate to buck party leaders and policy in defending higher principles which she believed in.

But what are those principles? She praises Utica as immigrant-friendly but jeopardizes the status of aspiring, achieving Dreamers. She enthusiastically defended a terrible healthcare bill, opposed proven banking controls and consumer protections and defends the sale of our personal internet data for commercial use.

These examples and more show Tenney actually follows and pleases whichever leader is most likely to advance her political ambitions rather than standing up to advance the best interests of her constituents - or those 800,000 young adults who have known no other home than America and dream and work to better their lives and this country.

'Hall of Shame' might be an option

Two letters that appeared recently suggested that the “Confederate cause (is) rooted in hate” and that “Confederate statues belong in museums.” I could not agree more with the fair-minded content of the writers opinions.

Taking a page from their lessons, I would add that there may be a relatively simple solution to the continuing hatred created by the so-called alt-right in Charlottesville. Please note that we, in America, have countless and famous “Halls of Fame.” They range from aviation and baseball to movie stars and even toys.

Little spoken of, however, is our nations notables of shame which include persons that perform destructive disservice to our republic. Their nefarious deeds could be military, criminal, financial, political and so forth. The artistry that created their statues and other memorials could be preserved and housed for posterity in a proposed “National Hall of Shame.” Those that honor such a cast of characters can visit them at will. The fees- per- visitor might be enough to pay for its maintenance.

App can keep you from getting lost

If you will be hiking in unknown territory and wish to guard against getting lost, there is a very easy (totally free) Smart Phone App that is very effective.

It’s called Map My Walk at www.mapmywalk.com/app.

My wife and I have used it for several years and it shows: the route you have taken (so you can retrace your route) and the direction you are currently traveling (so you can take a shortcut, if available). If you use it, it is impossible to get lost!
