Immunization clinic for children and adults set

Herkimer County Public Health will be hosting an Immunization clinic for children and adults from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at 301 N. Washington St.

No appointment is required. Most types of insurance will be accepted.

Regular walk-in clinics are from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays.

Bring your insurance cards to determine coverage.

The Old Forge Library’s Free Draw Night series continues

The Free Draw Night series continues at the Old Forge Library, 220 Crosby Blvd.

Anyone with an interest in drawing is invited to join artists Diane Davis, Ron Rakowski and Jim Tracy from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at the library.

The evenings will have a fun theme with a specific prompt. Dinner and basic drawing supplies will be provided but participants should bring any drawing materials if they have a specific preference.

An additional Free Draw Night is planned for Thursday, Nov. 21.

There is no charge and all levels of experience are welcome.

Gun safety course offered

The Herkimer County Sheriff’s is offering a gun safety course from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Herkimer County Sheriff’s Office, at 320 N. Main St.

A gun safety course is required for anyone applying for a pistol permit in Herkimer County. This course fulfills that requirement.

There is a $20 fee for this course. Class size is limited.

RCIL celebrates National Disability Employment Awareness Month

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and the Resource Center for Independent Living Inc. (RCIL) has joined partners throughout the country to increase awareness and job opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

Since 2018, RCIL successfully placed more than 30 individuals with disabilities in jobs within our community and provides continuing services to ensure individuals who are successfully placed have the resources they need to remain gainfully employed.

There are several financial benefits to employers who hire individuals with disabilities including wage reimbursement and tax incentives, among others. For information, employers are encouraged to contact RCIL at 315-797-4642.

Valley Residential Services, the first Enriched Housing and Assisted Living facility in Herkimer County, at 323 Pine Grove Road, is welcoming new residents to the enriched housing facility.
