ROME — The work of a local playwright and novelist will be featured in Rome Community Theater's “Evening of One-Acts” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18-19, at Rome’s Polish Home, 415 S. George St.

Louis J. Damelio, author of “The Private Property of Roscoe Pointer,” will see his play brought to life again since its writing in 1979. The play has won the Gassner Award and saw great success in a competition in which it beat out other shows such as “Pippin” and “Mass Appeal.”

Several of the other plays to be presented at RCT's “Evening of One-Acts” also have local origins. They include "Mom for Coffee," written by Eric Almleaf; "The Old Couple," by Dave Bush; and "Executive Session," by AJ Parker. Each playwright also directs his own one-act. The evening's entertainment also includes "Haiku," by Kate Snodgrass and "Happily Ever After?" by Jane Sylvester, both directed by Barb Seaton.

General admission tickets are available at the door for $10. Dinner also is available at the Rome Polish Home (cash bar) prior to Friday's performances.
