ILION — The Central Valley Fine Arts Department, with the assistance of the Central Valley Performing Arts Boosters, will sponsor its inaugural Central Valley District Faculty Fine Arts Showcase at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the Burton T. Seymour Auditorium at Central Valley Academy.
The showcase will feature members of the music department presenting a concert of popular and well known pieces by Bach, Bernstein, Gershwin, Schwartz, Berlin and others.
Highlights will include a movement from Bach’s unaccompanied "Cello Suites," a piano four-hands duet of "Over the Rainbow," "For Good" from "Wicked," a saxophone quartet of "Puttin’ on the Ritz" and other solos, duets and a variety of chamber works. There will also be a faculty choir consisting of the music departments and K-12 faculty singing "Yesterday" as well as a faculty jazz ensemble.
The art department will hold an art exhibit of their work as well as pottery, photography and fashions created by K-12 teachers. The Central Valley administrators will serve as masters of ceremonies.
Tickets are $5 and will benefit fine arts students at commencement.
