LITTLE FALLS —The popular Third Thursday Oktoberfest celebration will be held Thursday, Oct. 17, with specials offered by shops and eateries, along with events and entertainment for the community.

This will mark the seventh year for fall themed festivities in downtown Little Falls.

Returning for children at the Travelodge on Albany Street will be Mad Science, Bio Bubbles, face painting, crafts and more. Also planned is a Touch-A-Truck event for kids to explore some of the city’s emergency vehicles. Classic favorites will return as well from 4 to 6:30 p.m., including pumpkin bowling and other outdoor games. The Travelodge will offer a "Trick or Treat" buffet from 5 to 9 p.m. for adults at $10.95, children ages 5-10 at $5 with purchase of an adult buffet and free for children younger than 5 years of age. The Happy Haggs Dance Troupe will perform from 4 to 6 p.m.

Businesses on East Main Street will get in on the action, including Meeples Mug House, which will waive their game fee for anyone wearing a costume. FunTech Providers will offer a game day with a half hour of play for $1 from 4 to 8 p.m. In addition to games, Rock City Barber will offer hair designs for $5 to $10 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Kathy’s Professional Hair Designs will offer hair painting for $2 from 1 to 6 p.m.

The Zombie Run along the canal trail will return with the support of the Little Falls Family YMCA and Little Falls High School students. Proceeds will benefit Sitrin Health Care Center’s Military Rehabilitation Program, which provides complimentary care to post-9/11 veterans. Registration for the 3-mile run will begin at 5 p.m. before the canal trail on West Shore Road. Advance registration is $20 and event-day registration is $25, with the first 20 to register receiving a free shirt sponsored by the Herkimer County Hunger Coalition. The third annual 50/50 Poker Run will hit downtown from 5 to 9 p.m. Adults can buy a game piece outside any participating bar during the event. Then, draw a card at each of the seven different bars with any purchase, ultimately picking the best five cards on their game piece and turning it in outside Ruggiero’s Tap & Tavern. The best hand of the night will win 50% of game sales! Participating bars include the American Legion, Little Falls Polish Community Club, Ed & Bud’s, Happen Inn, Little Falls Elks Lodge, Copper Moose Ale House and Ruggiero’s Tap & Tavern.

Event-themed food, drinks and fun will be in place throughout the city. R.D.’s Gorge View Lanes will offer three games for the price of two beginning 5 p.m., the library will host "Paint a Halloween Picture" from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Story Hour for Grownups at Art Door Gallery in Canal Place will run from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and a free Thousand Island Winery tasting will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. at Ann Street Liquor. Valley Cinema will screen "Joker" and "The Addams Family" at 7 p.m. for $3.
