DOLGEVILLE — The Dolgeville Central School District is warning residents about a phone scam that has been discovered in the community.
According to a post on the district’s Facebook page, the school received notice Wednesday morning about the scam that includes "Dolgeville Central School District" and the district’s telephone number appearing on caller ID. The post reads it is an automated call that states the Internal Revenue Service is calling in regard to unpaid taxes.
The post reminds residents that according to the IRS, the agency will never contact anyone by phone. The school district posted a link on its Facebook page for concerned residents to go to for more information. The IRS website can be found at www.irs.gov.
