SHERRILL - The Sherrill-Kenwood Water District will begin flushing water mains and hydrants on Monday, Oct. 21, according to a statement from the district.

“During this time, customers may notice episodes of decreased water pressure or discoloration of their water. Water discoloration results from temporary disturbances of the normal water flow within our piping network. These short-term changes in flow can stir up naturally occurring minerals and sediment that settle within the water mains,” the statement reads.

Flushing schedule: (From 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day listed.)

• Monday, Oct. 21 - Route 5, Prospect Street, Rowland Place and the north side of the city.

• Tuesday, Oct. 22 - streets west of Sherrill Road.

• Wednesday, Oct. 23 - streets east of Sherrill Road.

• Thursday, Oct. 24 - streets in Kenwood.

The district advises customers in or near the flushing area to store water in their refrigerators for drinking and cooking. If water discoloration occurs refrain from using hot water and run cold-water faucets until the water appears clear.
