Starting Monday, Utica firefighters will conduct inspections of every single fire hydrant throughout the city.
The inspections will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, the fire department announced Thursday. Fire officials said inspections will cover multiple parts of the city each day until they are complete, which is expected by Thursday, June 20.
The inspections may cause discolored water, according to the fire department. Fire officials are advising residents in Utica and adjacent side streets to check their water before drinking or laundry. If your cold water is discolored, the fire department says residents should not use hot water if the cold water is discolored.
City officials said the water supply is not contaminated, while normal water pressures will be maintained.
