NEW HARTFORD — Construction has yet to begin for the new PiNZ location at Sangertown Square, but officials still believe the bowling establishment will open on time.
"The contractors are getting ready to begin," said Victoria Orilio, marketing director for the mall. "They’re preparing."
PiNZ is a family-based company based out of Milford, Massachusetts. The PiNZ location at Sangertown — the second in New York — is slated to open in the spring.
The new bowling alley will be more than 20,000 square feet. It will have 10 luxury lanes, along with interactive and virtual games. It also will have a 100-seat restaurant with an industrial-chic design. A bar will have 25 beers on tap, including local and regional craft brews. It also will have an indoor and outdoor patio.
"This isn’t your father’s bowling alley," said PiNZ CEO David Breen, in an interview with the O-D in September.
PiNZ has three locations in malls in Massachusetts. Two of those locations are in malls owned by the Pyramid Management Group — the same company that owns Sangertown Square.
The PiNZ location at Sangertown will open in the Macy’s wing, next to Victoria’s Secret. It will occupy the area where Champs Sports was located, the Family Fun Factory and the empty space between the two businesses. Champs moved down the hall where Cooperstown Connection was. And Cooperstown Connection now is in the Boscov’s wing. Family Fun Factory has left the mall.
The footprint of PiNZ will jut out a bit more into the walkway than the current stores.
"We’re really excited for PiNZ to come in," Orilio said. "They’ll add a whole new dynamic."
