ORISKANY — A Rome man died by suicide Saturday in the Oneida County Correctional Facility, according to the Sheriff's Office.
At about 3:45 p.m., officers found Scott Hence, 31, unresponsive in his cell, officials said.
Medical staff immediately began life-saving measures before Hence was taken the to St. Elizabeth Campus of the Mohawk Valley Health System, officials said.
He was then transferred to Upstate Medical in Syracuse and finallly to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
Hence was being held for arraignment for second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and a parole violation warrant, officials said.
In addition to the sheriff’s investigation, the matter also has been referred to the New York State Commission of Correction for their investigation, officials said.
