The Hamilton Senior Center had a very exciting bingo game held recently in Building 2/3 at Madison Lane Apartments. There were 18 seniors who enjoyed the nine different games played. The cover-all winner was Bill Bogan who won a $25 gift card for Price Chopper and a fruit basket. Congratulations to all nine winners. And thanks to the four volunteers that helped to facilitate this fun game. It's a very popular event for the seniors and it’s gaining momentum in its popularity. It looks as though we will be having bingo on a more regular basis.

There is a popular program that Sami Martinez, director of Madison Lane Apartments, has established and that is a “getting to know you” event. This is where a resident, or a non-resident, tells the group their life story. Everyone has an interesting story to tell and this program is very successful in allowing people to really know their neighbors. Many of us here at Madison Lane are always seeking new ideas that make Madison Lane an exciting place to live.

The senior center, in one of the five buildings at Madison Lane, has adopted that same goal Building 5 is where the SNACK program is held and it is a fun place to be. The SNACK program (Senior Nutrition And Country Kitchen) is open to any area resident 60 years of age or older and offers an opportunity to become part of a gathering of a diverse group of seniors. Lunch is served at noon Monday through Friday, and we have a good time.

I just heard on the news that loneliness is extremely detrimental to the health and well being of a person. I believe it totally. One result of our programs is a connection with others which will combat loneliness.

Come in and join us if you are over 60 years of age. Call me for more information.
