The Cazenovia Public Library invites anglers and outdoor enthusiasts to the Community Room for an Introduction to Fly Tying. Local fisherman Shaun LaVancher will lead the workshop at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17. The fun and interactive program is presented by Madison County Trout Unlimited Chapter 680.

Fly tying is the art of making artificial lures for fly fishing. Many anglers spend the winter months hand-tying flies for the next fishing season. During this special demonstration, LaVancher will introduce a few fly patterns proven to be effective on local streams. In addition to offering expert tips and fishing stories, he will also discuss the basics of aquatic entomology (the study of insects).

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 315-655-9322 or visit www.cazenoviapubliclibrary.org.
