The Club Duel Youth Wrestling Club of Hamilton had a long weekend wrestling back to back tournaments. They were at the Johnson City Wrestling Tournament Saturday, Jan. 5, and the Mustang Novice Wrestling Tournament in West Winfield Sunday.

Ten wrestlers represented Club Duel Saturday and finished with six 1st place finishes, two 3rd place, and two 4th place. First place finishers in the 6 and under division were Brayden Bruno of Smyrna in the 40 pound weight class; Evaleyena Phetteplace, Earlville, 45 pounds; Jacob Hill, Lebanon, 50 pounds; and Justus Fischer, Sherburne, 55 pounds. Also in first were Nyah Graham of Sherburne at 85 pounds in the 9 and 10 division, and JJ Fisher of Sherburne, 115 pounds, 11 and 12 division.

Third place finishers were Lilly Simons of Sherburne, at 55 pounds and Luke Hull, Hubbardsville, 75 pounds, both in the 9 and 10 division. Fourth place went to Abigail Simons of Sherburne, 55 pound class in the 7 and 8 division and Carnell Phetteplace of Earlville, 75 pounds, 9 and 10 division

Sunday’s tournament had more good finishes with Phetteplace and Hill taking first place in their divisions and Bruno taking second. Also finishing in second place were Hudson Schwartz-Pumilio of Sherburne, 60 pound class, and Carter Hutchings, Georgetown, 55 pounds, both in the 6 and under division.

Abigail Simons placed fourth at 55 pounds in the 7 and 8 division and her sister Lilly wrestled at 55 pounds in the 9 and 10 division and also took fourth.

Luke Hull received first place in the 75 pound weight class, 9 and 10 division, in his second year of wrestling.

Carnell Phetteplace also finished up his novice season with a first place finish wrestling at 80 pounds in the 9 and 10 division.

Club Duel has many young kids on the roster, most returning from last year and graduating to the next level of experience at the close of the 2018-19 season. The coaches are very proud of the kids on this team.
