WEBB--Five forest rangers, an environmental conservation police officer and two Old Forge Rescue EMTs helped a woman injured on the summit of Bald Mountain in Webb on Friday.

The woman and her husband, of Pittsford, were hiking when he slipped and fell on the icy summit, falling into his wife, who is 57, and dislocating her elbow, according to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Bald Mountain is in Ferris Lake Wild Forest.

Someone called 911 around 2:08 p.m. Rescuers used rope lowering techniques to begin getting the patient off the mountain around 4:28 p.m., according to DEC.  Ice under snow made for extremely treacherous conditions, slowing rescue efforts, rescuers said.

The patient reached the trailhead at 6:07 p.m. and was transferred to an Old Forge Rescue ambulance and taken to a Utica hospital, according to DEC.
