A New Jersey man died Friday night in a fatal snowmobile accident in the Town of Webb snowmobile trail system, the Town of Webb Police Department said.

At approximately 11:28 p.m. officers were dispatched to a snowmobile accident on Trail 5 near the steel deck bridge and intersection of Trail 8.

Police said Jonathan Black, 23, from Somerset, New Jersey, was traveling south when he failed to negotiate a curve. He was then ejected down a steep embankment.

Initially Black was assisted up the embankment and transported out to Old Forge ambulance on Carter Road with what was believed to be minor injuries, police said.

While being evaluated by paramedics, the victim went into cardiac arrest, authorities said, and resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

Old Forge ambulance and Old Forge Fire Department assisted at the scene.
