FORESTPORT — Looking for a new and unique way to celebrate the Christmas holiday? Gather the family and head over to Forestport for its annual Christmas Light Up Parade at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9.
Become a Light Up Parade participant - join the fun by registering as an individual or as a group in the parking area across from St. Patrick’s Church on River Road. Everyone in the parade is asked to carry some type of lighting to illuminate the evening. This year participants may bring lighted and decorated wagons, strollers, wheelbarrows and carriages–anything that is not motorized.
The parade will make its way through the streets to the Memorial Park on Woodhull Street to catch a glimpse of Santa in his horse-drawn wagon right before the ceremonial lighting of the community Christmas tree. While there, enjoy singing Christmas carols while warming up with refreshments.
Children will then gather in the Forestport Presbyterian Fellowship Hall to meet Santa and receive their special presents compliments of the Wigwam’s Annual Toy Drive.
