UTICA — Twenty-two individuals representing 10 nations from around the world were sworn in as new citizens Thursday at a naturalization ceremony at U.S. District Court.

The ceremony's guest speaker was Bill Kardas, chief meteorologist for WKTV News Channel 2, and U.S. District Court Judge David N. Hurd presided over the event. The musical group Firestorm performed and the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department presented the colors for the ceremony.

New citizens: Mohammed Ahmed Sadik Abdallah, Egypt; Senaida Ajdinovic, Bosnia and Herzegovinia; Kalkidan N. Alemu, Ethiopia; Fayi Mohammed Ali, Somalia; Luis F. Andujar Jimenez, Dominican Republic; Marcos N. Cabreja, Dominican Republic; Arok Majok Deng, Sudan; Sujata Gurung, Bhutan; Lin Ba, Burma; Bah Tha Law Mae, Burma; Bee Marvel, Burma; Bow Marvel, Burma; Mie Mie, Burma; Hsa Ka Pru Moo, Burma; Sher Sher Moo, Thailand; Helder Sarfo Nti, Ghana; Ku Say Paw, Burma; Aye Za Ta, Burma; Naw H Wah, Burma; Ne Win, Burma; Ni Ni Win, Burma; and Zaw Win, Burma.
