ALBANY — State police have captured a woman suspected of fleeing a traffic stop near Albany and driving the wrong way on the Thruway while eluding troopers.
The Post Star of Glens Falls reports that troopers stopped a vehicle near Interstate 87's Exit 23 around 4:45 a.m. Friday. As troopers arrested a 34-year-old Proctor, Vermont man on drug charges, a woman jumped behind the wheel and sped off.
The vehicle was later spotted near Exit 18 at New Paltz. A witness reported seeing the car going the wrong way in the northbound lanes with troopers in pursuit. Troopers discontinued the chase for safety reasons.
The car with Vermont plates was later found behind a business in Albany. Troopers took the woman into custody later Friday near Glens falls after pulling over a car she was traveling in.
