A driver remains in serious condition after hitting a residence in the Town of Vernon on Friday, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office said.
Stephen Jackson, 66, of Canastota, collided with the residence after his vehicle left State Route 5 around 4:30 p.m., deputies said. Jackson, who was southbound, struck the residence at 4902 State Route 5, causing minor damage, authorities said.
The driver was transported to Oneida City Hospital in serious condition, deputies said, adding that the accident and Jackson’s current condition may have been caused by a medical emergency while operating his vehicle.
The Sheriff's Office was assisted by Vernon Police Department, Vernon Fire Department and Vineall Ambulance on scene.
