Here’s what’s happening at the Smyrna Public Library.
New books and toy:
In adult fiction, we have “Red Alert” (An NYPD Red Mystery) by James Patterson and Marshall Karp, “City of Endless Night” (A Pendergast Novel) by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, and “Gathering the Threads” (The Amish of Summer Grove), by Cindy Woodsmall.
Our new toy is a cute sock monkey dressed for cold weather.
Library Board Meeting:
The Board of Trustees of the Smyrna Public Library will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at the library.
Healthy Home-Cooking Class, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, given by Liz Coffey of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chenango County. Eating nutritious food on a budget can be hard; let’s make it easy! Learn how to prepare a healthy recipe, enjoy a sample, and have some fun!
A concert in celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Smyrna Public Library is from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 17.
Barb’s knitting group:
Peggy came in with an apple crisp for us. She spoils us and we love it.
Kitty and Bonnie are breezing through the Workbasket books that were donated. Arlene was doing our famous hot pads – double-thick and worth the effort to make. Pam was busy with a knitted hat done on a circular needle, Jan worked on her purple scarf and Mary was doing a Frilly Dilly scarf. I finished the circus socks - now I have to finish a graduation afghan.
The weather is always a hot topic - no one remembers a summer like this one. Peg left early to do laundry - always laundry for busy folks.
We crazy ladies meet from 10 a.m. until noon Tuesday mornings at the Smyrna Library. You are welcome to stop in and visit, contribute to our knowledge, and tell stories. See you here with us.
The library is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.
