Rome Memorial Hospital has ceased implementing security protocols, according to a statement from a Rome Memorial Hospital spokesman.
At 3:55 p.m., the spokesman issued the following statement:
"Out of an abundance of caution, Rome Memorial Hospital (RMH) enacted its emergency preparedness plan and implemented security protocols to screen all visitors entering the building due to a credible security threat from an individual. The hospital appreciates the efforts of the Rome Police Department and the Oneida County Sherriff’s Department who quickly responded to mitigate the risk for the safety of our patients, staff and visitors. Law enforcement has determined that the individual is no longer a threat and normal operations have been resumed."
