UTICA — At roughly 6 p.m. Saturday, the stage was in mid-preparation as hard rock fans milled on Genesee Street for the next live band.
From Elizabeth to Blandina Streets, fans celebrated the K-ROCK Free for All, a free concert hosted by K-ROCK studios. Among the bands playing were Boy Hits Car, From Ashes to New, My So-Called Band and Trampoline Jetstream.
James and Sara Burnop drove from Cold Brook for the event. Waiting for the band Pop Evil to start playing, they were sipping wine slushies on the benches at the State Office Building.
“It’s nice to see a nice event for the community, to get everybody out to showcase Utica,” James Burnop said.
“You can’t beat free, right?” Sara Burnop added.
