• The Rev. Stephen P. Wirkes will be performing the time-honored tradition of The Blessing of the Boats at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, on the canal located on Canal Street in Sylvan Beach, in front of The Canal View Restaurant.  

• Hope Christian Fellowship is partnering with Believers’ Chapel of Canastota and the Compassion Connection Food Pantry to host a Community Appreciation Day. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at Believer’s Chapel of Canastota, at 2657 Seneca Turnpike. The Rev. Thomas Burgess will speak on the subject of “Revival” during the morning worship time. There will be food, fun, music, children’s activities, and water baptism for those who have repented and believed but have not yet been baptized or who may desire to do their first works over (Acts 2:38; Revelation 2:5).

• New Hartford Presbyterian Church, 45 Genesee St., offers worship services at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 12. The congregation will complete its collection of school supplies to be distributed through the Neighborhood Center. The church's Youth Group will meet at 4 p.m. Church committees will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14. A free Praise and Worship Concert featuring the music of Wayne Clemens will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, in the New Hartford Village Park next to the church. An offering will be taken to benefit the Center Point Christian Fellowship Preschool.

• The Circle of Joy, an ecumenical service for people with disabilities, meets on the second Monday of each month. The next service will take place at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 13, at the First Presbyterian Church of Utica, 1605 Genesee St, Utica. Enter through the rear handicapped accessible entrance to Fellowship Hall. Rev. Roger Williams, pastor of Waterbury Presbyterian Church in Oriskany will give the message with assistance from "Jake." (Williams is a ventriloquist). • Westminster Moriah Olivet Presbyterian Church  at 714 Washington St., Utica, opens its doors from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. every Tuesday for its food pantry.  Use the Broadway entrance. The church's Sunday service is at 10:30 a.m.

• First Presbyterian Church of Holland Patent, on the Village Green, will host the Sunday worship service, at 10 a.m. Aug. 12, in the Sanctuary. Most services during the summer take place on the Village Green.

• Trinity Lutheran Church, 2620 Genesee St., Utica welcomes all to its 10:30 a.m. worship Sunday, Aug. 12. The church is handicapped accessible. • Waterbury and Whitesboro Presbyterian churches will join for a combined service at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at the Waterbury Presbyterian Church in Oriskany with the Rev. Roger Williams, pastor.

• Utica Monday Nite Concert  will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church, 702 Columbia St., Utica featuring the parish choir and 13-year-old organist Dominic Fiacco.

• St. Peter's Church, 422 Coventry Ave., Utica, will host a Vigil Mass will for The Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven at  7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14.  Morning Mass is at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15. There will be no Morning Mass on Tuesday, Aug. 14.

• The Rosary, led by Mike Dziura, will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Christ the King Shrine on Flanagan Road in Marcy.

• The Saint Padre Pio Prayer Group will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church Parish Center, 702 Columbia St., Utica. Recitation of the Rosary, and prayers to St. Padre Pio along with a spiritual lesson on the life of St. Padre Pio given by Rev. Anthony LaFache will take place. • YMCA Prayer Brunch "Inspiration and Overcoming Adversity" will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at New Beginnings Church, 227 Genesee St., Wampsville. Join in a day of worship, morning of group prayer for healing and celebration of the YMCA's mission and Christian Heritage. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at www.ymcatrivalley.org. • Luncheon Series: "St. Michael and The Archangels" will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at The Good News Center, 10475 Cosby Manor Road, Deerfield. Annette Gape will facilitate the series.  She serves as a certified director of Faith Formation at Historic Old St. John’s Church.  She was trained through Loyola Institute for Ministry and has been a facilitator at The Good News Center leading its Bible Study. Learn about St. Michael, St. Raphael, St. Gabriel and the other Archangel’s role in Salvation history.  Through Scripture, prayer and art the series will explore the relationships between the Archangels and God’s people.
