NEW HARTFORD — The Hospice & Palliative Care Development Council will hold their annual Butterfly Release celebrations at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, at Utica College and at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Herkimer County Community College. Rain dates for both dates will be the following day.

The celebrations offer a unique opportunity to honor or memorialize loved ones by sponsoring a butterfly in their name, according to a news release. The highlight of the events will be the individual release and flight of hundreds of Monarch butterflies. The events will include live music and refreshments.

The proceeds will support hospice and bereavement services to those who reside in Oneida, Herkimer and Madison counties.

Butterflies must be reserved ahead. Sponsorship is $25 per butterfly or five for $100. Anyone who is not able to attend the butterfly release celebrations can have butterflies released for him. For more information or to sponsor butterflies, download a form from the website at www.hospicecareinc.org or call Hospice at 315-735-6484, ext. 1004.

All funds raised stay local to help care for families, friends and neighbors.
