Join in Celebrating the Bounty of Madison County at the Madison County Fair in Brookfield. Gates will open at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 12; bring a non-perishable food item and get in free. The Buffalo Barfield duo will kick off the musical entertainment at 1 p.m. and will return each day to perform for area residents. At 3 p.m. enjoy the Miss & Mister Madison County competition. The Firemen’s Parade steps off at 6 p.m. and will be followed by Madison County Fair’s premiere Team Demolition Derby at 7 p.m.
Senior citizens will have free admission Friday, July 13. At 4 p.m., fairgoers can get the taste and talent of Madison County at the Local Food Evening and the Talent Show. Be sure not to miss the Power Pulling action beginning at 7 p.m. when the gas and diesel trucks take on the weight machine and dance the night away with the Band Broken Rule Band on stage.
Saturday is Youth Day, hosted by the Madison County 4-H and Cornell Cooperative Extension. Don’t miss the wild Power Wheels Demo that will begin at 1 p.m. and will be followed by the ever-popular smash’em crash’em demolition derby and rollover contest. The Lum Brothers Band will then light up the stage at 7 p.m.
Sunday, July 9, is Local Agriculture Day. Gates open at 8 a.m. with the tractor pull spinning off at 9:30 am. At 2 p.m. the popular bicycle giveaway will take place (age 15 and under/must be present to win). The music of Matt Chase and the Thunder Canyon Band will fill the air at 3 p.m. and the Chainsaw Art silent action winners will also be announced at 3 p.m.
Every day, the fair will offer 4-H demonstrations and exhibits, Jennifer Black Chainsaw Artist (silent auction for craved pieces), Ag Awareness Display, crafters and demonstrations, animal shows, an antique stock car display, midway rides, the Animal Alley Petting Zoo, food and, of course, the beer tent.
