It was a senior citizen night out for many of us when we attended the dinner hosted by the Waterville Central School Student Council. The theme of the dinner was “Hawaii” and we were each given a lei in the color of our choice when we walked in. The tables were nicely decorated and there were bowls of popcorn for us to snack on.
Dinner started with beverages and a salad followed by baked ziti with Italian bread. We ended the meal with a choice of cookies for dessert. Everything was very good. The servers were very nice boys and girls.
After dinner we played several games of Bingo and I was a lucky winner of a gift card to Roc's Ice Cream & Eatery in Waterville. I was pleased as I don't win at bingo very often.
This is a community event put on each year by the student council and we thank them for making the evening special for many area senior citizens.
I know a lot of seniors look forward to these events and it is a chance for us to meet some of the students.
They are certainly having a lot of problems with the Kilauea volcano in Hawaii. It is terrible the problems it is causing - destroying land and homes.
A few years ago when we vacationed in Hawaii we got to go and see the Kilauea volcano and even walked on part of the lava covering the road. We have a picture of Molly standing by the sign.
In our travels we have visited many interesting places and if something happens in these places we can remember what it was like, such as our tour of the boat yard in Maine and the Corvette Museum in Kentucky. We have also seen what forest fires have done to many parks out west.
We have gone a lot of places and seen a lot of nice things during our years traveling with Ron and Jackie and now on our own.
