Oneida County Family Court Judge Jim Griffith announced his campaign for re-election to a third term as Family Court Judge. Griffith is a Republican.
Griffith, a Rome native graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1972 and attended Princeton University and law school at Columbia, graduating in 1980.
He worked on the staff of the United States Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations and for several law firms before being elected to Family Court.
He has been chosen to serve on the court system’s statewide committee on Drug Courts and to be a "raise the age" judge as part of the new state initiative to handle juvenile crimes committed by 16 and 17 year olds. He also has received training for over three years in a Justice Department program to teach science (as it applies to legal proceedings) to state court judges.
Griffith lives in Rome with his wife, Dianne. They have a son, Evan.
