Here’s what’s happening at the Smyrna Public Library.
New decorating book
In adult non-fiction we have “The Nesting Place: It Doesn’t Have to Be Perfect to Be Beautiful” by Myquillyn Smith, “The Nester.” The author is a popular blogger who says “perfection is overrated” and shares the secrets of decorating for “real” people - embracing the reality of the unpredictable messes of life.
More book gems
As I have explained before, we are going through the bar-coding process, which means we have to handle every item in the library that will circulate to the public. We are finding all kinds of wonderful books. Here are a few examples.
“Building Early American Furniture” by Joseph Daniels; “Celtic Art in Cross Stitch” by Barbara Hammet, “Fly Creek Cider Mill Cookbook: Celebrating 150 Years of Flavor, Fun, & Memories,” and “Gallery of Best Résumés: A Collection of Quality Résumés by Professional Résumé Writers” assembled by David F. Noble.
Barb’s knitting group
It was a lovely day last Tuesday when the knitters gathered – except for the pollen.
Mary breezed in to show us her finished afghan. While she was here she helped Jean take out a stretch of yarn that didn't get spun correctly. Kitty came with a new afghan that she has started and Bonnie brought in her afghan. Arlene is now is the dishcloth business and I am almost done with my shawl/scarf.
Peg was here for a visit. She is recovering nicely from double knee surgery. Kitty mentioned that she saw a fox carting off a neighbor's chicken. Marilyn was in checking to see if anyone remembers their folks talking about a celebration after WW II that took place in Smyrna. The crowd was estimated to be 2,000 people! If you have any info, call her at 607-627-6566. See ya here with us.
The library is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.
