The Madison County Democratic Committee recently endorsed Melissa Stearns for New York State Supreme Court Justice. Stearns has already received the support of the City of Oneida Democratic Committee.
Stearns is currently principle court attorney to acting Supreme Court Justice Donald Cerio, a position she’s held for 10 years. She was Cerio’s first assistant district attorney when Cerio was Madison County DA. Stearns is the only Supreme Court candidate with extensive background in both civil and criminal law.
She lives in the City of Oneida with her husband and their three children. Stearns also attends Saint Patrick’s and Saint Joseph’s Church where she is a cantor.
An honor graduate of the University of Rochester, Stearns earned her law degree at the Columbus Law School of the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
