HAMILTON – The Community Memorial Foundation will host the Mike Martin Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit Community Memorial Hospital Monday, June 18, in Hamilton.

The theme of this year’s event is “Tee It Up for Telemetry.” Proceeds from the competition and from supporting sponsors will enable Community Memorial to purchase patient monitoring equipment.

Approximately 120 golfers will play the Colgate University Seven Oaks Golf Course in Hamilton. This marks the third year for the event. Last year the tournament was named to remember a longtime and dedicated volunteer, Mike Martin, who was lost to the community in October 2016.

Deeply committed to the Hamilton area, Martin served on the board of the Community Memorial Foundation and chaired the tournament in its very successful inaugural year. He served on several local committees spearheading economic initiatives, and actively volunteered for Colgate University including serving as trustee and president of the Alumni Council. The tournament recognizes his leadership skills, commitment to the hospital and the local community, as well as his personality. Martin is a 1964 graduate of Rome Free Academy and Colgate University in 1969.

David Buran, honorary chair of the tournament, recently retired as the director of the foundation after seven years of service. Bob “Tybo” Tyburski is now leading a dedicated committee that is organizing the details of the event. Committee members are encouraging area businesses to sign up for one of the few remaining sponsorship opportunities.

“Telemetry provides continuous electronic monitoring of patient heart rate, heart rhythm, and breathing at the bedside and to a location such as a nursing station. This equipment is a useful tool for our medical staff and enhances the quality of care for our patients at Community Memorial,” said Tyburski.

Sponsorship opportunities are still at communitymemorial.org/foundation/ or call the foundation office at 315-824-7036.

The Mike Martin Memorial Golf Tournament is locally supported by Sodexo, as the signature partner; Practice Resource, dinner sponsor; CRM Management, reception sponsor; MLMIC, lunch sponsor, and Kinney Drugs Foundation, photo sponsor.
